Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons corn syrup
  • French bread, sliced and cut into cubes
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups half-and-half
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, melt the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup over medium heat. Stir until smooth and pour into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Arrange the bread cubes over the sugar mixture in the baking dish.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, half-and-half, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour evenly over the bread cubes.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the French toast uncovered for 40 minutes.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can top the French toast with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or fresh berries for added flavor.
  • For a richer flavor, you can use heavy cream instead of half-and-half.
  • If you prefer a crunchy topping, broil the French toast for an additional 1-2 minutes after baking.
