- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye bread
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for grilling
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the sliced onions to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to make the secret sauce.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. Place a slice of bread butter side down in the skillet.
- Top the bread with a slice of Swiss cheese, a scoop of the beef and onion mixture, a dollop of secret sauce, and another slice of Swiss cheese.
- Place another slice of bread butter side up on top of the sandwich.
- Grill the sandwich on both sides until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can caramelize the onions before adding them to the beef mixture.
- Feel free to swap out rye bread for a different type of bread, such as sourdough or whole wheat.
