Description

Delight in rich, fluffy Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cream Puffs, combining creamy peanut butter and smooth chocolate in light, airy French choux pastry. This simple yet impressive dessert balances nutty sweetness and delicate texture, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Choux Pastry

  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (240ml) water
  • 4 large eggs

For the Peanut Butter & Chocolate Filling

  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup (40g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz (115g) semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup (128g) creamy peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Choux Pastry Dough: In a medium saucepan, combine butter and water, heating until the butter melts and the mixture begins to boil. Remove from heat and add all the flour at once, stirring vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the pan sides.
  2. Incorporate the Eggs: Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then beat in eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. The dough should become smooth and glossy, with a thick but pipeable consistency.
  3. Pipe and Bake the Puffs: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a round tip and pipe small mounds onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and puffed up, then allow to cool completely.
  4. Make the Peanut Butter & Chocolate Filling: Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Melt the chocolate gently over a double boiler and let cool slightly. Fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream along with smooth peanut butter until combined and creamy.
  5. Assemble the Cream Puffs: Slice the cooled puffs in half and spoon or pipe the peanut butter and chocolate filling inside. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate to finish.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs to help incorporate eggs smoothly for better dough texture.
  • Don’t open the oven during baking to prevent the puffs from collapsing.
  • Chill the filling before piping for easier handling and neater presentation.
  • Pipe puffs evenly to ensure uniform baking and professional appearance.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the filling by tasting and tweaking powdered sugar to balance peanut butter richness.
