Pecan Pie Layer:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Brownie Layer: In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Stir in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  • Prepare the Pecan Pie Layer: In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, corn syrup, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  • Assemble and Bake: Pour the pecan pie mixture over the partially baked brownie layer. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes, or until the pecan layer is set and golden.
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting into squares. For an extra indulgent treat, serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
