- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp red food coloring
- 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (mix of sugar and ground cinnamon)
- Cream cheese frosting for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into individual rolls.
- Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish, leaving some space between them.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until the rolls are cooked through.
- Once baked, allow to cool slightly and top with cream cheese frosting before serving.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing some chocolate chips into the filling or adding a dash of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar.
