Description

These delightful red velvet cinnamon rolls combine the rich flavors of cocoa and cinnamon, topped with a luscious cream cheese frosting for a perfect breakfast treat.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp red food coloring
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar (mix of sugar and ground cinnamon)
  • Cream cheese frosting for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until a dough forms.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into individual rolls.
  • Place the rolls in the prepared baking dish, leaving some space between them.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until the rolls are cooked through.
  • Once baked, allow to cool slightly and top with cream cheese frosting before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing some chocolate chips into the filling or adding a dash of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar.
