Description

This Sausage, Gravy, and Biscuit Pie is the ultimate comfort food, combining the rich flavors of sausage gravy with fluffy biscuits baked to perfection. Ideal for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner, this hearty dish is sure to satisfy cravings and bring warmth to the table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 biscuits (pre-made or homemade)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground sage
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and cooked through, breaking it up into crumbles as it cooks.
  2. Make the Gravy: Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage in the skillet. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste. Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Continue to stir and simmer the gravy until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, ground sage, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  3. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Assemble the Pie: Arrange the biscuits in a greased baking dish, either whole or halved, depending on the size of your dish. Pour the sausage gravy evenly over the biscuits, making sure they are fully covered.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the gravy is bubbling.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven and let the pie cool slightly before serving. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting flavors of sausage, gravy, and biscuits in every bite.

Notes

  • For added richness, you can sprinkle some shredded cheese on top of the gravy before baking.
  • This dish pairs well with a side of scrambled eggs or a fresh fruit salad.
