Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Olive oil for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, sauté the sliced peppers and onions until softened.
  • Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Spread marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Top with cooked sausage, peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Roll up the dough tightly, tucking in the edges to seal.
  • Brush the stromboli with olive oil and make a few slits on top to vent.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat or a sprinkle of garlic powder to the sauce.
