A delicious, savory stromboli filled with seasoned Italian sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for dinner or as a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

- 1 pound pizza dough
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup marinara sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, cook the Italian sausage until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté the sliced peppers and onions until softened.
- Roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spread marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Top with cooked sausage, peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
- Roll up the dough tightly, tucking in the edges to seal.
- Brush the stromboli with olive oil and make a few slits on top to vent.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat or a sprinkle of garlic powder to the sauce.
