This Toasted Italian Sandwich is packed with layers of savory meats, melty cheese, and fresh veggies, all topped with a tangy dressing. With a crispy toasted roll, it’s an easy yet delicious sandwich perfect for a quick meal or lunch!

- 1 large Italian sub roll or ciabatta bread
- 4 slices salami
- 4 slices pepperoni
- 4 slices ham or capicola
- 4 slices provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 4 slices tomato
- 2 tbsp red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp banana peppers (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the Italian sub roll or ciabatta bread in half horizontally.
- Layer the salami, pepperoni, ham (or capicola), and cheese on the bottom half of the bread.
- Add shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, and banana peppers (if using) on top of the meats and cheese.
- Drizzle olive oil and red wine vinegar over the top and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Optionally, spread mayonnaise or Dijon mustard on the top half of the bread.
- Place the sandwich halves together and wrap them in foil.
- Toast the sandwich in the preheated oven for 5-7 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the oven, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra crunch, you can add extra banana peppers or pickles.
- If you prefer a different cheese, mozzarella or a sharp provolone work great as alternatives.
