Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1 tsp sugar (optional)
- Cooked rice for serving
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, cornstarch, and beef broth. Set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the steak and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic, onions, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
- Return the steak to the skillet. Stir in the sauce mixture and cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and season with black pepper to taste.
- Serve hot over steamed rice, garnished with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.
Notes
Adjust the amount of black pepper to your spice preference. Adding sesame seeds or chopped green onions makes a lovely garnish.
