- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2.5 cups onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2.5 teaspoons brown sugar
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 4 pieces Green Mill Texas Toast
- 1 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the Ground Beef and Onions: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onions over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onions are softened. Drain excess fat from the skillet.
- Add the Flavorings: Stir in garlic powder, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and salt & pepper to taste. Cook over medium heat until the mixture thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Prepare the Texas Toast: Place the Texas Toast on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Assemble the Sloppy Joe Texas Toast: Remove the toast from the oven and pile a generous amount of the Sloppy Joe mixture onto each piece. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- Serve: Serve immediately while hot and the cheese is melted.
