Description

These easy slow cooker French dips are made with just three simple ingredients but deliver a rich, savory flavor. Tender, shredded beef is served on toasted French rolls, topped with gooey provolone cheese, and served with a side of the flavorful cooking liquid for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 (10.5 oz) can condensed French onion soup
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 8 French rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  • Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  • Pour the French onion soup and beef broth over the roast.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours, or until the beef is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
  • Shred the beef using two forks and stir it into the cooking liquid.
  • Slice the French rolls and place the shredded beef on the rolls.
  • Top each sandwich with a slice of provolone cheese.
  • Broil the sandwiches in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve the French dips with a side of the cooking liquid for dipping.

Notes

  • You can add a bit of horseradish or Dijon mustard to the sandwich for an extra kick of flavor.
  • For a more robust flavor, consider adding garlic powder, onion powder, or Worcestershire sauce to the beef broth.
