Description

These Spicy Beef and Cheese Empanadas are a flavorful treat, featuring seasoned ground beef and melted pepper jack cheese wrapped in crispy pastry. Perfect for parties or a satisfying snack!


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 package empanada dough
  • 1 egg, beaten for brushing

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a pan, cook ground beef and onions over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in chili powder and cumin, then add shredded pepper jack cheese, mixing until the cheese is melted.
  • Roll out the empanada dough and cut into circles.
  • Place 1-2 tablespoons of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle, fold in half, and seal the edges with a fork.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
