Description

This delightful dessert salad combines the perfect balance of salty, sweet, and creamy layers. With a buttery pretzel crust, a creamy cream cheese layer, and a strawberry gelatin topping, it’s a refreshing treat that’s perfect for any occasion, especially during the summer!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 8 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 6 oz strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Bake for 10 minutes, or until the crust is lightly toasted. Set aside to cool completely.
  • In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1 cup of sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping until well combined.
  • Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust.
  • In a medium bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in the boiling water. Stir in the sliced fresh strawberries and let the mixture chill until partially set (about 30-45 minutes).
  • Once the gelatin mixture has thickened slightly, pour it over the cream cheese layer in the baking dish.
  • Chill the entire dish in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until the gelatin is fully set.
  • Serve chilled and enjoy this sweet, salty, and creamy dessert!

Notes

  • For the best texture, make sure the pretzel crust is completely cooled before adding the cream cheese layer.
  • If you like, you can substitute the whipped topping with homemade whipped cream for a fresher taste.
  • This dessert is great for potlucks, holiday gatherings, or as a refreshing summer treat.
