Description
Soft, fluffy, and buttery, these Texas Roadhouse Rolls are the perfect homemade copycat of the iconic restaurant’s famous bread. Slightly sweet and wonderfully tender, they’re a crowd-pleasing addition to any meal.
Ingredients
-
1 ¼ cup whole milk
-
2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
-
¼ cup honey
-
4 tablespoons melted butter, divided
-
1 large egg, at room temperature
-
1 teaspoon salt
-
4 cups (480 grams) all-purpose or bread flour
Instructions
-
Warm the milk to about 110°F (43°C). In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and honey. Stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
-
Add 2 tablespoons melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until combined.
-
Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, stirring after each addition. When dough becomes stiff, knead by hand or with a mixer fitted with a dough hook for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours or until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12-15 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball.
-
Place rolls on a greased baking sheet or in a greased baking dish, leaving space between each roll. Cover and let rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy.
-
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush rolls with remaining melted butter.
-
Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush with more melted butter immediately after baking.
- Let rolls cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra softness, cover the rolls with a damp cloth while cooling. These rolls freeze well—reheat with a bit of butter for fresh taste.
