For the Sloppy Joe Mixture:

- 1 small bell pepper, finely chopped

- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
For Assembly:
- 8 slices Texas toast
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Stir in the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, chili powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, until the mixture thickens.
- Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the Texas toast slices on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture generously over each slice of Texas toast. If using cheese, sprinkle shredded cheddar on top.
- Bake in the oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the toast are crispy.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
