A delicious twist on classic Salisbury steak, these tender meatballs are simmered in a savory mushroom gravy. Perfectly seasoned and served over mashed potatoes or rice, this comfort food dish is sure to please the whole family.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 8 oz sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and form into meatballs.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook until browned.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for a minute.
  • Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add the meatballs back to the skillet.
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
  • Serve the meatballs with mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy.
  • You can use ground turkey for a leaner version of this dish.
