A delicious twist on classic Salisbury steak, these tender meatballs are simmered in a savory mushroom gravy. Perfectly seasoned and served over mashed potatoes or rice, this comfort food dish is sure to please the whole family.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 8 oz sliced mushrooms
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped onions, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined and form into meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides, then remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms and cook until browned.
- Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine. Cook for a minute.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add the meatballs back to the skillet.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
- Serve the meatballs with mushroom gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the gravy.
- You can use ground turkey for a leaner version of this dish.
