For the Wontons:
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg (for sealing wrappers)
For the Soup:
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Baby bok choy (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Wonton Filling:
- In a bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and chopped green onion. Mix well.
- Assemble the Wontons:
- Place about a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Brush the edges with a beaten egg to help seal, then fold the wrapper to seal tightly.
- Cook the Wontons:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the wontons and cook for 4-5 minutes until they float to the surface. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Soup:
- In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper. If using, add the baby bok choy and simmer for 2 minutes.
- Serve:
- Divide the cooked wontons into bowls. Pour the hot broth over the wontons and garnish with sliced green onions.
Notes
- You can customize the filling by adding other ingredients such as shrimp or vegetables.
- For a heartier soup, consider adding noodles.
