Description

This fluffy and delightful Yellow Velvet Cake is a perfect choice for any celebration, combining a rich texture with a hint of sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Yellow food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat sugar, softened butter, and vegetable oil until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • If desired, add a few drops of yellow food coloring and mix until the color is evenly distributed.
  • Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
