This flavorful dish pairs juicy, garlic-butter steak bites with crispy, cheesy smashed potatoes. The combination of rich butter, savory steak, and melty cheese makes for a comforting and indulgent meal that’s sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak Bites:

  • 1 pound sirloin steak, cut into cubes

  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced

  • 4 tablespoons butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

For the Smashed Potatoes:

  • 1 pound baby potatoes

  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Fresh chives, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • For the Smashed Potatoes:

    • Boil the baby potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and let them cool slightly.

    • Place the potatoes on a griddle or large skillet. Use a spatula to lightly smash them.

    • Drizzle the smashed potatoes with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.

    • Cook the potatoes until golden and crispy, about 10 minutes on each side.

    • Once crispy, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

    • Garnish with freshly chopped chives.

  • For the Steak Bites:

    • Heat a griddle or large skillet over high heat and add the butter.

    • Once the butter is melted and foamy, add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

    • Add the steak cubes to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes.

    • Remove the steak bites from the skillet and garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, add a splash of Worcestershire sauce to the steak bites while cooking.

  • You can use different types of cheese, such as mozzarella or Monterey Jack, for the smashed potatoes.

  • This dish pairs well with a simple salad or roasted vegetables for added freshness.
